Thats it!

The B3ta/3my comic is now live - go to 3my comics and click the B3ta Comic link on the right and there you go!!!

I really enjoyed the logistics of putting this together and hope I get the chance to put many more of them as there is a talented bunch on b3ta - my aim is to have something the style of 2000AD where there are many choices depending on your taste!

Deadline for #1 is the end of August!!!

“Bulgaria withdraws lifting team

Bulgaria’s Weightlifting Federation has withdrawn its team from this summer’s Beijing Olympics after 11 lifters failed a drugs test. The Federation said eight men and three women had tested positive for the banned substance methandienon. The weightlifters were tested during a training camp earlier this month while preparing for the August Games. “The federation decided to withdraw the weightlifting team - men and women -from the Olympics,” read a statement.”

Flaming heck! why stop there - i think they need to look at the whole set up. Doctors, trainers and athletes! That must be a serious amount of dope flowing around the changing rooms! Do the women know what room to change in?
I think its time to have a sweepstake on how many doping offenses there are at the Olympics - already one of the Chinese swimmers has been busted and now this!

I can’t belive that there are so many athletes taking this stuff - i know some of them say ‘my doctor told me to’ or ‘I didn’t know’ : That doesn’t cut it - I think that they are also adults and should know better!

Maybe Grant Naylor had a point when they wrote ‘Better Than Life’ - maybe we should have genetically modified games!

Time that is!!

Saturday is my 5 year wedding anniversary - wow! That’s five years which have gone very fast - I may not have much to report tomorrow or Saturday - We’ll see!

Today is also the deadline for submissions for issue #0 of the B3ta Comic Book - so far I have got about 22 pages, which is a good amount! Hopefully I’ll get some more soon!!!

Sunday Kieron has an inter-club kick boxing tournament so we’ll see how he does there!!

Ok I seem to be on a run down for my holiday - I need it, no, deserve it with all the hard work that I have done for the last year…only 24 days to go!

Rumour has it that John Landis is looking to remake his classic ‘An American Werewolf in London’

/rant 

This comes under my heading of ‘don’t mess with a classic’ has Hollywood run out of ideas that they need to either make a spoof movie or remake some thing (see The Wicker Man, Haloween, Planet Of The Apes, King Kong etc etc)
This really annoys me as there is seldom a better remake, the originals have been done and people know the storyline. All it is is a showboat for established actors.

Get some better stories.
Even when they adapt books or comic books they are vastly inferior to the orginal source. Seldom do they come off. Lets see Hollywood try to remake Transmetropolitan, The Boys or Preacher without totally screwing it up or giving it its own political angle - look what they did to Judge Dredd - they have no idea. As for books, I read Jurassic Park before I saw the movie, when I saw it I was very dissapointed! Most of them lived in the movie.

Transmetropolitan is something which passed me by, but I had the fortune to read the whole series (60 issues) over the last couple of days.
It is a post-cyberpunk story of a journalist call Spider Jerusalem who has been forced to come from his mountain retreat back to the city - and he hates it!
He writes a column in the paper which speaks the truth and asks questions that no-one else asks. We need someone like that in the UK!

I am rapidally become a non superhero comic fan. With titles like this, The Boys & Hellblazer the boys in spandex don’t have a chance!

Highly recommended!
