Cloverfield
Cloverfield is worth seeing. Although it won’t be the best monster film you’ve seen, its a good addition to the catalogue. As you may know, it is done from the opinion of an amateur camera man, on a camcorder, but don’t let that put you off, its not as bad as normal camcorder recordings, and doesn’t hurt your eyes to watch.
The monster is unlike most you will have seen in previous films, but if you have played a few computer games, it won’t look that original. They are sensible in not showing the monster too much or too early, but i still feel that they could have shown it less.
The monster is not the main focus really though, and this is what makes a good monster film in my opinion. The characters are cool, and well written, with some good conversational writing as well. The film deals with their reactions to the incredible events, and does so well, despite the slight cheesy-ness at some points.
Now to rate it, i would rate it as worth seeing, but not phenomenal, so 6.5/10, or 65/100 for those who like proper fractions
